#YouAreNotAlone
At the beginning of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Refuge reported a 700% increase in calls to its domestic abuse helpline in one single day. With the government demanding the country stay at home, for those suffering with domestic abuse, home was anything but safe. The #YouAreNotAlone campaign not only empowered victims to leave home, but encouraged the public to show and share their support. Since its launch in April 2020, the campaign reached over half a million people, with thousands sharing the message including Dua Lipa, Kate Beckinsale, Keira Knightly, Orlando Bloom and Dr Zoe Williams.
The brief began as an emergency, Friday afternoon, Monday morning delivery from the Home Office for one social post to reassure the general public that if you were suffering with domestic abuse - you could leave your home to seek help. It ended as a full social campaign, supported by digital OOH, backed by pharmacies and announced to the whole country by Priti Patel. This is an issue very close to our hearts and after receiving the brief, we knew this could never be properly addressed with one post, so instead we created a brand movement.
#YouAreNotAlone became a symbol of hope that spoke to both victims, friends and family members to reach out to those who are the most isolated from the people they love. Alongside our talented designer, we art directed, wrote and produced this campaign in a matter of weeks to make the deadline for Priti Patel to announce the campaign in her domestic abuse speech.
